Ammar Oumalek is a professional with robust experience in economic development, public governance, institutional capacity building, corporate governance, and urban development and management.
Mr. Oumalek is currently working at the World Bank as an Operations Officer. He’s led several initiatives at the World Bank that helped make the institution more agile and deliver better results through its projects and operations. Mr. Oumalek also managed a multibillion-dollar portfolio at the World Bank of various financing instruments and projects spanning multiple countries.
Prior to joining the World Bank, he’s worked in the governance field and led many initiatives with local and state government agencies to help develop local communities in his native Algeria. In addition, Mr. Oumalek has helped create several NGOs in his native country where he developed his interest in public service and giving back to the community.
Mr. Oumalek holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s in public policy from George Mason University. In his spare time, Mr. Oumalek enjoys museums, opera, hiking, camping, sports from soccer to Spartan races, and a great American tradition: road trips.
